Removals in Wickford
Move It Removals is a BAR-member removal company covering Wickford and the surrounding south Essex area. We are a long-established firm with two decades of moving experience, trading as Move GP Ltd TA Move Group and verified in the BAR find-a-member directory. Every move goes out with our own trained crew on a fixed written quote produced from a survey.
Wickford has its own moving-day quirks: the station level crossing and the commuter rush, market-day parking in the centre, a run of new developments, and the rural lanes out towards Shotgate and Runwell. We plan around all of it before we arrive.
Why Wickford homeowners book Move It
Wickford access, in practice
Short, anonymised examples of how we plan a Wickford move. All illustrative and for client confirmation before publishing.
Timed around the level crossing, spring 2025. A move from a house near the station. We scheduled the load outside the commuter rush so the vehicle was not caught at the crossing, and completed the move in a day.
Market-day parking, summer 2025. A town centre flat moving on a market day. We arranged the loading point and timing in advance so the crew were not competing with the market for space, checked the stairs and lift, and protected the communal areas.
Rural lane at Runwell, autumn 2025. A family home down a narrow lane a large lorry could not take. We matched a smaller vehicle to the road, shuttled from a staging point, and kept the move to a single day.

House removals in Wickford
Wickford moves are shaped by timing and access as much as the property itself. Near the station, the level crossing and the commuter rush can hold up a vehicle, so we time the load to avoid the worst of it. In the centre, market day changes the parking, and we plan around it. The new developments have their own road layouts and, sometimes, unfinished access. Out towards Shotgate and Runwell, the rural lanes mean matching the vehicle to the road and shuttling the last stretch where a large lorry cannot get through. For flats, we check the stairs, the lift and the loading point, and protect the communal areas throughout.
We confirm the vehicle size, the parking and the timing for your address at the survey.

Is a removal company worth it?
It depends on the move. Here is a fair comparison so you can decide:
- Doing it yourself. The lowest upfront cost, but you hire the van, find the help, carry the risk if something is damaged, and give up the time. It suits small, local, low-value moves.
- A man-and-van service. A step up, and a sensible option for part-loads, single items or a small flat. There are usually fewer people, less specialist equipment, and often no BAR membership or full goods-in-transit cover, so it is worth checking what is included.
- A full removal company. More affordable than it first looks once you count the risk, the insurance and the time. You get a trained crew, proper materials, BAR protection and one team for the move, storage and delivery. It suits larger homes, fragile or valuable items, tight access, and completions where dates do not line up.
For a straightforward small move, a man and van may be all you need. For a family home, difficult access or a dated completion, a full service is usually the more affordable choice once a damaged item or a wasted day is factored in.
Our quote terms
We put everything in a fixed written quote after the survey, so you can see what is and is not included:
- Materials. Boxes and standard packing materials are included in your quote. Any specialist or extra materials are itemised.
- Waiting fees. Your written quote states whether waiting time is chargeable. Our standard quotes do not add waiting-time charges for normal completion-day delays.
- Storage. Quoted on the same quote, by the day or the month, with one team handling the move, the storage and the final delivery.
- Cancellation. The cancellation terms and any notice period are set out in your written quote.

Cheapest days to move in Wickford
If you can choose your date, a mid-week move (Tuesday to Thursday) and a mid-month date are usually quieter, and can be more affordable, than a Friday, a month-end or a summer weekend, when demand is highest. The size of the move and the access matter too: a larger move or a tight-access property takes longer and costs more whatever the day. In practice your completion date often sets the day for you, so treat this as guidance. Tell us your preferred and fallback dates and we will quote the options.

Insurance and BAR protection
Move It Removals is a BAR member, trading as Move GP Ltd TA Move Group, verified in the BAR find-a-member directory. BAR membership means we work to the CTSI (Trading Standards) approved BAR Code of Practice, and you have access to the BAR Alternative Dispute Resolution scheme.
We carry insurance on every move. Your written quote sets out the insurer, the cover types (goods in transit and public liability), the cover limit, the conditions, any excess, and how claims are handled: you notify us in writing, we record it against your job, and we handle it through the insurer. Goods you have packed yourself are usually covered differently from items our team packs.
